What the 2026/27 selection process includes
The official recruitment information guide describes a staged process. It names a short pre-recorded video interview at shortlisting, followed for shortlisted applicants by online cognitive ability and psychometric assessments. The guide says these assessments examine behavioural and personality traits including emotional resilience, teamwork, managing change, effectiveness, adaptability and understanding critical job demands.
A later panel assessment may use work-related scenarios and questions to assess behavioural and clinical competencies. The guide also names an online Personality Assessment Inventory, intended to provide information about interpersonal skills, stress management, adaptability and decision-making styles. QAS may request follow-up assessments or interviews, including with a QAS-approved psychologist or panel. Assessment formats and individual progression can vary; follow the specific invitation rather than assuming every applicant receives identical exercises.
The guide does not publish a standardised question bank, cognitive-test topic list, time limit or pass mark. Do not mistake broad assessment descriptions for a detailed clinical examination syllabus. The program page confirms applications for 2026/27 closed on 30 August 2026 and says the next campaign is anticipated in mid-2027.
Check whether the graduate pathway fits
QAS says applicants need a Bachelor of Paramedicine or equivalent, and candidates in their final semester may apply. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Australia and have less than two years’ experience working as a paramedic. Candidates who have more than two years’ relevant government or jurisdictional ambulance-service experience may instead be eligible for qualified paramedic roles.
The program page also specifies paramedic registration with Ahpra, with final-semester candidates able to register after completing their studies, and a manual Light Rigid or higher-class licence before an offer. It describes acceptable manual licence routes and says an automatic-only licence is not eligible. Applicants should check the current official page and medical standards before applying; do not rely on an old checklist if a future campaign changes its criteria.
The Graduate Paramedic Program runs full-time over 12 months. QAS employs graduates across Queensland, and applicants should review the official station list and role description for work-location expectations. The recruitment guide says operational requirements influence placements and that expressing a preferred location does not ensure a vacancy will be available there.
Practise cognitive and psychometric skills thoughtfully
For cognitive practice, work on reading directions accurately, extracting relevant information and solving unfamiliar problems methodically. Practise under modest time pressure only after you understand the task. Keep an error log that distinguishes a missed instruction from a reasoning mistake or a rushed choice. Review why a better answer follows from the information instead of memorising a pattern from one practice set.
The guide does not identify the test provider’s question types. Consequently, avoid claims that preparation must focus on a particular commercial test format, numerical syllabus or exact question count. A balanced practice routine can still strengthen attention, flexible reasoning and the ability to maintain accuracy when working through unfamiliar tasks.
Psychometric and personality assessments are not ordinary knowledge quizzes. The official description centres on behavioural tendencies and work-related characteristics. Read each prompt carefully and answer consistently and honestly. Trying to reverse-engineer a supposedly ideal personality profile can create contradictory responses and does not demonstrate the candidate’s genuine approach. Reflect on examples that show adaptability, teamwork, emotional steadiness and responsible decision-making, but do not rehearse false claims.
Prepare for recorded and panel interviews
For a recorded interview, practise delivering a focused response to a camera without losing the thread. Use a simple structure: identify the situation or issue, explain the actions you took or would take, and state the outcome or reasoning. Keep examples grounded in your actual experience, including university placements, employment, volunteering or teamwork where relevant. Avoid claiming independent clinical authority beyond your qualification and scope.
For panel scenarios, practise explaining how you would assess the information, communicate with others, prioritise safety and seek guidance when needed. QAS says panel activities may address behavioural and clinical competencies using work-related scenarios, but does not publish exact scenarios. The role description and selection criteria are better preparation anchors than speculative questions found elsewhere.
Use short mock responses and review them for relevance, clarity and reflection. Ask whether the answer addresses the prompt, gives evidence and explains what you learned. In group or panel settings, demonstrate listening as well as speaking: acknowledge relevant contributions, state your reasoning and remain constructive when views differ. These are sensible preparation techniques, not a guarantee of a particular assessment result.
Keep documents and final checks in view
The QAS process includes checks of professional registration, qualifications, clinical practice, criminal history, traffic history and references. Final stages include a medical assessment and mandatory checks. Begin locating transcripts and registration information early, and check the official role and recruitment documents for the exact documents requested in a future campaign.
Medical and physical requirements are separate from online reasoning practice. Read QAS’s current medical standards and obtain individual advice about personal health questions from the appropriate professional or recruitment contact. Do not infer that a general fitness routine substitutes for a formal medical assessment.
What to do before the next campaign
Since the 2026/27 campaign is closed, candidates should monitor the official QAS Graduate Paramedic Program page for the next recruitment guide and application dates. The next campaign is anticipated mid-2027, not guaranteed to open on a specific day. Keep professional registration, qualification and licence plans on track, then recheck all requirements when a new notice appears.
Use the official guide for confirmed selection stages and follow any invitation instructions exactly. Preparation should build clear thinking and honest communication, not attempt to predict undisclosed questions. Easy-Quizzz is not QAS and cannot promise a pass, a place on a merit list or employment. The useful next step is to practise the documented abilities and verify current official information before each application cycle.
